This is the first time I've ever encountered PHNBR or the phrase it abbreviates.

Yeah, same here. You kind of get the feeling it's one of those things like "putting the sheep's back legs in your boots so it can't run away" that gets repeated a bunch but is a total myth.

He's misremembering the acronym. What he's thinking of is "JRHNBR" (Just the Right Height, No Bucket Required), which was mentioned in one of the "Animal Passions" BBC documentaries as a sort of a joke.

While it can be nice to see documentaries about zoophiles since they present a view most people aren't even aware of, they do sadly seem to often lean towards being "quirky" or jokey and treating the whole thing kind of flippantly. Being laughed at is better than being yelled at, but neither really comes close to actual understanding and acceptance.

[deleted] 1 point on 2014-08-26 16:53:26

It's a step in that direction, though, isn't it? I'm sure at least a few audience members will start thinking more about zoophilia after seeing the play-- more than they had before.

danpetman 1 point on 2014-08-26 16:58:06

Oh, I haven't seen or read the play, so I can't comment on its tone, I was more thinking about stuff like the "Animal Passions" documentary. It's absolutely a step in the right direction, but I wish there were more things that showed zoophiles for what we are; a diverse group of basically completely normal people.

I think it's gonna happen in our lifetimes. One little step at a time.

Fingers crossed :)

I hope, trying to make it real a small step at a time.

a story in the guardian about zoophilia?! jeez, I know its not exactly singing our praises but still, thats a pretty decent step in the right direction if you ask me.
