Anyone else discover zoophilia later in life? (self.zoophilia)

When I started High school I believed that being a male meant that I love women. But over the course of those four years I realized that i was wrong. So when I left for college I told everyone I was gay. Because I didn't like women, so I had to be gay, right? I had sex with a few guys, while being a lot better than girls, I still didn't feel like I fit in with them. On one summer break my oldest brother finds a job in another state. He asks me to watch his dog for a couple weeks while he gets situated, I agree. Soon after I'm spending all my time with a two year old husky named Klaus. One night while cuddling in his bed, he shows hes very interested in me. After pushing him off once he jumps right back on me, I realized I didn't have any reason to stop him. We continued to get closer over the next couple weeks, both in and out of my bedroom. By the time he leaves to go to his new home, I realized I had found the relationship I always wanted in life. I couldn't believe what I was thinking, I tried to push it out of my head. I started school again, using down time to figure what was going on with me. Eventually I came across this subreddit, a place I finally feel I fit in. My brother moved back after almost a year, Klaus and I picked up as if he never left. I've never been happier. Has anyone else discovered themselves later than most?

Well, I didn't but I've read stories from many folks... say 30% of zoos at a guess... who have figured themselves out later in life. I'm guessing that you were 22ish when you discovered yourself?

Anyhow, hopefully some of the folk here can tell you their experiences. Welcome and I hope you always have that happiness in your life.

Hehe, 22 as "later in life"... based on the story i would say you're probably not far off.

Yea, I've talked to folks who surpressed until they were in their 40s and 50s. It's funny how much like "the gays" our problems are...

God, I'd've been a very unhappy camper if i waited that long...

As I recall, that was their feeling too....

Welcome!

I basically know how you feel, though I do still have romantic and sexual attraction for humans, specifically one guy (you know who you are, lol ;p ).

Are you saying you think you're mostly zoosexual?

Also, how old are you? Just curious what "late in life" is

Rarely I'll find a human male that I'm interested in, but dogs are all beautiful in their own ways.

I just turned 21 when I finally accepted myself. I say later in life because I'm almost a decade behind everyone that discovered themselves during puberty. And I'm 22 so the last year has been the latest part of my life.

yay! welcome home :)

I guess a lot of zoos dont realise (or dont want to realise) theyre a zoo until a bit later because its not something thats shown to you as a valid option when youre growing up. its either, you like women or you like men. The other options are never mentioned. This means people have to self diagnose themselves with, in zoophilias case, very little information about it.

lol, i remember for the longest time knowing i should like girls, but i just didnt no matter how hard i tried.

This is also a pretty fitting post for my cakeday. cheers everyone!

Well, I first realized I was attracted to dogs during puberty, but I didn't take on the label of zoophile/zoosexual or get involved in the online community until a few years later.

Through puberty I never felt interested in girls and to be honest, it never really bother me at all or struck me as odd. Many years later I discovered dogs (which previously I was kinda afraid of actually) and slowly got more interested in them. I started having fantasies but which I knew were a bit odd but didn't really thought much about it otherwise. It's only since last year after a big shock and change in my life that I have decided to embrace this part of me in my (future) life and as of relative recently I'm actually trying to get more involved in the community, learning as much as possible.

i'm somewhat of a mix, i think. i realized i was interested in animals early on, and even had some early relationships .. of a sort .. but it really hasn't been until recently (some 20 years on) that i've finally had an opportunity to "consummate".
