tl;dr Won't someone PLEASE think of the furchildren?

It's very poorly written and loops around and rambles so much it's honestly difficult to understand at times. There's also a ton of amusing contradictions like 'animals can't control themselves' and 'animals can't tell the difference between humans and their own species' but also asserting that 'we totes can't tell what animals are thinking'.

Wow... her sources are a joke. Quotes from wikipedia, an online psychology dictionary which is clearly outdated by at least 10 years, some online comment about a book that the reviewer found offensive, and quotes from Peter Singer and Marion Nasswetter which appear to be completely ignored because of the furbabies.

Beyond that, everything is either unsourced or irrelevant. Women are raped all over the world? Children exist? I guess we can't do anything that the vegan communicator doesn't like then, because she compared zoophilia to atrocities and thinks of animals as precisely equivalent to toddlers.

It was suggested that a new law should be passed in Demark to enforce veganism since it is impossible to raise animals without cruelty.

While a stupid idea, I think it fits the point exactly.

I like the part where it's explained that if you were to show kids beast porn it'd be considered abuse. Of course, if you were to call in a kid and wank in front of them it'd get you on the sex offender's list. Because it's inappropriate to show children, wanking should be illegal.

"....and thinks of animals as precisely equivalent to toddlers."

Which ironically disrespects animals. Good job, Veganites.

i wouldnt blame veganism for that woman's academic ineptness

ursusem 1 point on 2015-04-15 07:23:48

I don't blame the concept of vegan per se but some of these radical groups I can be suspicious of sometimes.

Sure, some of them can be very... quick to judge, but there really is no valid argument against veganism.

I realize that this is the kinda thing that we all hate to see, but it is the kind of thing anyone who can type can write up about us. Because of the nature of social media it gets linked everywhere by more thoughtless people. So the question is, while we might not be able to do anything about this specific instance, what can we do in general?

Sapphire_seam Equus 1 point on 2015-04-15 04:40:28

Remember, one woman's anti-zoo blog is exactly that. A blog, one of the least credible sources there is.

“A lie can run round the world before the truth has got its boots on.”

Dealing with that problem is almost certainly beyond us. But we should be dealing with the smaller problem of our metaphorical boots still not being on. I just wish I knew how.
