came out to one of my closest friends today. whew. (self.zoophilia)

He and I have both been going through some rough times and had been too busy with life to talk, so we both got together and talked stuff out. It was difficult to get the words out, but everything went okay. He admitted he thought it was weird, but he said he didn't love me any less or consider me any less of his friend. It still feels a little surreal.

I want to give you - yes you reading this - a big thank you for making me feel less alone about all of this. I don't know if I could have ever felt as comfortable with coming out as I did if not for you guys.

Awww. I've always believed that nobody, zoo or otherwise, should be forced to walk alone. I'm glad this little community has been here for you, it means a lot to me personally.

And a very well-done to you. I know how difficult it is to do this, but if you choose wisely (and it seems you did), everything is the better for it. I hope everything goes well, as it ought to.

I am very happy to hear that things went well for you. Having a friend you know you can trust to that degree is a very gratifying feeling, and I am glad we as a community were able to inspire you to bring up the courage to do so.

Congratulations on being confident in yourself :D Telling your friends and family certainly lifts quite the burden.

So much so that my new tabs page in chrome, this subreddit is the first result, and I am have zero shame about that :) (people, particularly my brother, use my computer sometimes)

Excellent job. I know when I first told my parents it took a burden off my chest.

Congrats! Knowing you can trust and rely on a close friend with something so personal is a really great feeling. It's really hard to do even if you know for sure your friend won't think less of you for it, so good job getting over that hurdle.

I took a look at your post to /r/OffMyChest, and I must say, this sounds like a step in the right direction for you. I'm glad you were able to take it. It may not have been easy, and it might make things uncomfortable for a while, but if you have trust with this person then it's worth it in the long run.
