Lions were actually my first zoo fantasy. I was watching the South Park episode where Kitty was in heat, and they showed her watching a nature documentary about lions mating. That was my first real inkling of zooishness.

My preferences changed to dogs later on, but I can see the appeal of a lion or tiger too. Too bad they're both rare and likely to maul you if you don't know them well.

I'm in the minority too. I'm not interested in dogs and horses zoophilically but I like bears in that way. lions and tigers and bears oh my! but then I start singing, "all you gotta do is show a little leg!" Hahaha! get it? oh god! XD

I quite like cheetahs. And lionesses are pretty damn sexy.

Not exactly a 'male' but a female lion would be my first choice if I would have the three wishes. Some alone-time with an in-heat tamed lioness... hm... So yes, I'm a Big Cat person too, though I have a dog and I like to ride horses :)

I wouldn't recommend sex with a male lion (not talking from experience). Lions, like all felines, have backward pointing barbs on their penises, which are thought to rake inside the lioness to stimulate ovulation. This internal raking hurts, and a lioness is known to swat a male in response to this pain as he dismounts.

I quite like big cats; leopards, snow leopards and cheetahs in particular. I don't have the same attraction to lions or tigers, but they're certainly magnificent.

TBH, my childhood fascination with Nala was probably the first subtle sign of my zoo tendencies.

Lionesses are definitely one of the most attractive animals in the world to me, I'm definitely a "big cat person." Romantically I like big cats and little cats more than I do dogs, so far. Sometimes it's hard knowing I'll probably never interact with a big cat, and certainly never have a bond with one.

"Being a Canadian, there's not much i can do with this interest but fantasize about it"

To be fair, there's not too much you could do even if you did live around them :P

my primary attraction until about 5 or 6 years ago was female tigers, though i am definitely attracted to most of the big cats at least a bit, and of both genders to some extent (though i'm primarily hetero). i agree about lion manes being attractive.

i think it was a fairly gradual thing, but it wasn't until 5 or 6 years ago that i realized my primary attraction had shifted to bears, mostly in a romantic sense, though over the last few years, the sexual aspect of that attraction has grown as well.

bottom line, you're not alone in your frustration.

No first hand experience but I personally knew someone that got to work with full grown lions and tigers and pet them. But yes I find big cats sexy. I probably jacked off thinking about every species of big cat.
