Not strictly zoo but I thought the investigation of altruism in rats an indicator that animals have more than just a basic understanding of the now and instinct. This argument works both before and against zoophilia depending on the context but for someone to say "stupid animal" or compare animals to simple unintelligent children is not something we should let them get away with either....

But empathy is needed for the animals to see what the human is going to do. They can guess what is going to happen next which gives the chance to declinge such actions before they even happen.

Agreed. Animals are more intelligent then most people think.

I see no difference between people and animals. We're just the species that happened to develop the right things to take over the planet etc. Their mental capacity is a significant fraction of ours and so they should be treated like sentient, sexually mature beings that make their own decisions. Every argument anti zoos have is either dumb, or we don't know enough yet to know if it's a problem.

I think we do know enough but they have a hard time accepting it. I mean I thought sex with non-human animals was just all bad before I actually looked into it. All the information is out there it is just not so easy to find as other things.

That's the thing, it's one of those few weird issues where your knee jerk reaction is wrong once you learn the facts. Gravity, for example, is one of those. You think that lighter things would fall slower, but that totally isn't the case.

I think it is a little different than the gravity thing but I think I get what you are getting at. Like the "weirdness" of it causes one to try an distance themselves from it an eliminate it sort of.
