Interview with People Attracted to Animals? (self.zoophilia)
submitted 2015-06-30 15:30:21 by sethsd

Hi, I am a NY Times columnist (sethsd.com) and I am writing a book. I am hoping to interview people who are attracted to animals. If you are interested, please contact me at seth.stephens@gmail.com

If you already have done a little research on this topic, you should know how dangerous for each one of us "deviants" it is to reveal any private data, such as name and email addy. Why not doing the research right here, on reddit? Post your questions here and you´ll get a broad spectrum of answers at once; personal contact via email could still be established if we can exclude any negative intentions.

I agree. We welcome questions here from outsiders, provided that they keep the discussion civil. In addition, we're probably more likely to contact you individually though methods other than email: skype, tox, and wickr are a few of the channels I've seen used a lot, but sending a PM here to work out a preferred communication method is a good idea.

Well, the other reply is very dismissive... I'm not really up for an interview, but I can tell you that people will need some sort of proof that you really are who you say you are and some assurance that their identities will be protected.

The background is that there are many people who would love to "expose" us. E.g. if you read enough through all the spam at opbeast on twitter you'll find that they attempt (and mostly fail) to "dox" random people they don't like.

What happens when someone's identity is revealed can be seen at the facebook page of this guy's little organization: https://www.facebook.com/ILL.PR. (I still haven't seen a reliable source for all the claims that he sexually harms animals, so I'm not going to judge this case just yet, but all the people there do and I think to almost all of them it doesn't matter whether he harmed animals or not...).

So you can see why people here would like to avoid that.

But it's not like it's impossible to find interview partners, as e.g. this interview http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2014/11/what-its-like-to-date-a-horse.html shows.

Please note that you need to go through the NY times to answer his questions at first... please DO NOT e-mail just any old e-mail someone posts... research, find the guys REAL WORK e-mail, then confirm it is him.... please be careful.

Checking out the NY Times, and via the sethsd.com site, I've confirmed that seth.stephens@gmail.com is probably a valid e-mail of the actual reporter. Again, please do your own research before trusting this, sites can be hacked and so forth but I doubt it in this case.

I wouldn't trust a gmail address unless confirmed by NY Times. I know a guy who regularly gets emails intended for other people, including confidential emails sent by lawyers (intended only for their clients, not him) regarding news-worthy criminal cases, because his name happens to be common and he got the account first.

I'd be up for an anonymous interview, given you can prove to everybody and I that you are in fact who you claim to be. Whether it be through the form of an enterprise email address or through an image of yourself(it seems all of the journalists are accompanied by photos on the website). The only journalist I found from a quick google of your name didn't seem like the type to conduct this sort of interview. However, feel free to correct me and I would love to interview with you.

PS I am on mobile at the moment so I may have missed something and whatnot, I also cannot view links. Better clarification would be appreciated nonetheless

Edit: Went to the website, PM me.

If you dig deeper a little his recent work seems suggestive about sex and the internet. Honestly I'm curious as to his take on it.

If you really are you should have a NY Times staff email address and use it for this. Refering to someone's .com is not good for anything.

Hi, I am a contributing writer, so I don't have a staff email. All my info is on my website, though, at sethsd.com.

What makes you interested in mature interspecies love, Seth?

If you are searching for more interviews, you could also contact the german ZETA association ( www.zeta-verein.de/en ). I'm sure that 2-4 of us (including me) would give you an interview.

Has anyone established contact to him yet?

HeartBeatOfTheBeast Hoof and Claw 1 point on 2015-07-02 15:55:48

Yes I have. He sent me 6 basic preliminary questions, such as what species I was attracted to.

Yearningmice 1 point on 2015-07-03 15:52:18

Yes, I've chatted to him in a few e-mails. He's interested in "big data" and I must admit I am curious to see what it says. I doubt the ethics of animal sex will be talked about, but I think he has an interesting take on the subject. I won't say more being his ideas are his.

what kind of interview?

pinkstray 2 points on 2015-07-04 00:59:58

Frankly I'd want to interview him as much as he me. I'v been quoted and have provided information to reporters enough on other subjects to know the subtleties of the information gathering and writing / editing. Zoo's will not be an open book to a reporter. There's too much to lose. But some empathetic journalism with review release would have some hope.
