Interacting with other subreddits (self.zoophilia)

Should we do it?

Under this account, I've hopped over to r/CasualConversation once or twice. I've never demanded that they pay attention to my zoophilia, and if I do bring it up, it's usually in some small way. Even my flair (Dating a horse, AMA) hasn't raised many questions.

And, conducting myself the way I do in that sub, there hasn't been any conflict. None at all. The biggest reaction I've gotten has been somebody sending a PM because they wanted to learn more.

That being said, not all subs are the same. I know we have a bit of history with r/AskReddit, which is why I've shied away from there, temping as it's been at times.

How do you all think we should interact with other subs?

However you want! I think it's poor form to try to shoehorn in zoo-related topics to popular threads just for the sake of 'raising awareness' or whatever, but hey if there's a relevant comment you can make that's on-topic and constructive then why not go for it?

Slightly on topic: I was once an open zoo in a non-zoo forum. It was actually a pretty popular one too for it's day. Sadly it is now defunct.

Would you believe me if I said it went down well? People are much less inclined to spit in your face I guess when your already an established community member (yes, I was "outed" there by outside forces, and they stood by me and banned the perpetrator... one of the coolest communities ever).

RIP GL Forums.

Well, I'm banned from /r/SubredditDrama...

When people are talking about us, sure, why should we not chime in? But I think we're often doing it too much at once, and I'm guilty of it too.

For AskReddit etc... I don't really know. Bringing zoophilia up in every question that remotely fits feels very forced and I can imagine how it could annoy some users. On the other hand, aren't people posing these questions to get interesting and unusual replies?

I've tried to chime in on famous... er, infamous threads once in a while. I usually come out of it with an equal mixture of delighted surprise, revulsion and frustrated disappointment. Too many people on reddit especially will butt heads with you just for the sake of butting heads it feels like, make up facts and figures and don't want to have even a partway intelligent discussion. But I have received a few good responses when I've talked about it, although I think a lot of that is from guys who are turned on by the idea of a woman zoophile... it really seems the common perception that zoophiles are all guys raping helpless sheep and female dogs in a shack out in the woods. I try to break that image a little but I think it gets drowned out by either the "ooh" factor or the "ick" factor.

I've never seen such a range of responses, from "burn in hell" to "you're brave and amazing" to "I want to talk to you privately, please let me call you." and "I always wanted to meet someone like you." ಠ_ಠ

I think I'm probably done speaking about it in "normal" forums. It kind of leaves me shaken.

That's very unfortunate, but I understand why you wouldn't want to discuss it. You're one of the better spokespersons we have! But again, I don't really get into conversations much, either. I suppose I will if the topic comes up, but I don't really care for long-form debate, haha.

I'll bring up zoophilia if it is related to the topic on hand, otherwise I won't.

To be honest, i use dedicated usernames. I have a lot of different interests, and I have varying degrees of presence on different subs, from ones like this and transgender subs to gaming and political discussion. However, I have had very bad experiences with crossovers between interests in the past. When I started using reddit, it was because I stumbled on some very welcoming, supportive, and helpful transgender subs that helped me come to terms with that part of who I am. However, after I started I began to expand to other areas of reddit, places that my opinions on the subject at hand were welcome but other parts of my identity were not, and could risk being met by trolls. I know they exist and we all have to deal with then eventually, but I wasn't in a position where I felt I could at the time. Over time, different usernames for different groups of subs have kind of become normal, to protect myself from the trolls. Maybe that's weak, and it may even be against some rules, but the alternative is removing myself entirely, which is a cost I can't really bare.

I think it is OK to advocate but not to push untoward. We shouldn't push into conversations unnecessarily but if the topic is primed for discussion, to contribute as appropriate. It is also important to remember that zoo's have partners to protect and because of any anticipated backlash, should tread cautiously for the safety and well being of our partners. They come first, any advocacy comes second.

I would love seeing you guys in /r/watchpeopledie as the stars of the show, thought referring to you degenerates as "people" is a stretch.

It's more tempting than it should be. Much too tempting, just like it was for the two AntiPOZi people who joined in on this thread.

Still, I try to add something rather than letting myself get enraged and turning myself into a straw-man. Hard work, that.
