Edit No.3: Telegram has a great growing group as well, check it out, and the workarounds for the verification process ("enter your phone number so we can send a confirmation code to punch in on the app"? ... Yea right...) I used the phone at a business, and after you don't punch in the code for 2 minutes it called that number and an automated voice tells you the five digit code. no way am I going to attach my phone number to discussions like this.

It's essentially anonymous, and, like I said really I like it because for one thing it's instant for another the older posts just go away

It is not anonymous, kik is known to cooperate fully with the police so if any single person in the group goes down and they connect go kik(which they tend to do), then every single one of you is gonna go down too. They have IPs which if your ass isn't covered 24/7 on every device, they know exactly who you are.
"Messages sent through KIK can be read by the employees of the company"...WTF??? Probably the best way ever to communicate your smutty sexual desires, your drug habits and plans for a bankrobbery to your friends...Welcome to KIK...

Remember though, it's essentially as anonymous as Reddit is fun.
And comments on Reddit are totally public, rather than being confined to the group (of 50 max).
There is a apparently a migration going on as well, though : from Kik to Telegram.
Telegram has its own shitty policies also.

By the way, what ARE the workarounds for telegram's verification process? I agree it is really cagey that they boast about their anonymity and privacy and then ask for a cell phone number to verify you. Sheesh.
Good to know that it will at least place a phone call, I thought it had to be a cell phone and not a landline.
Does it ever require the number after the initial verification? I wonder if you could just get some anonymous VOIP account for a month (or a day) and do it that way.
