I was hiking in northern Michigan yesterday and saw this unidentified canine. To my eye, this animal appeared much larger than a coyote, but I have researched both the wolf and coywolf populations in my region and neither have been documented recently near where I saw this particular animal (Leelanau county). This particular photo is full zoom on a 21 megapixel digital zoom from what I'd estimate is about 200 yards or so.

Maybe it is a German Shepherd Dog.

how did it behave? did it see you and run? just watch you from a distance?
