Are there any risks to sex with animals? (self.zoophilia)
submitted 2016-03-16 20:39:50 by Sadiebubs

I have been interested in animals my whole life, dogs above all else, and I have recently been considering finding a way to do something involving one. Being the cautious person that I am, I wondering if there are any possible risks such as possible disease or something like that. I'm fairly sure that dog diseases can't be given to humans, but I just don't want to end up dog herpes or something similar to that. Sorry if this is something that would be better suited to r/Bestiality, if so, I will take my question there in the future.

Diseases of any kind should not be a concern. Other than trivial injuries (eg, getting scratched), some people may have unknown allergic reactions to animal semen and other body fluids. So before taking a dog in completely, try rubbing small amounts of his/her bodily fluids on a sensitive part of your body to make sure you don't show any allergic reactions to it.

Agreed. There are very few diseases that can be passed from dogs to humans.

Thanks, I was just wanted to make sure. I did hear a story of some mom dying of her allergy to dog semen; don't want anything like that to happen.

It is not true to say that disease is not a problem. There are some rather significant diseases which can be passed from various animals, including dogs, to humans through sexual contact.

That should be of some use.

However, with that said, they are far less frequent than human STIs, to my understanding, especially in an animal that is well taken care of, and it varies by region. They range from fairly dangerous to fairly harmless. Some can be passed via casual contact as well as by sexual contact.

I would say that you are more safe having sexual contact with, say, a dog than with a human, but depending on the number of partners you have and how well you know them (your own animals compared to, say, strays), your risk will vary.

Well said. I'd just like to add a bit about toxocariasis, the herpes of dog ownership. Based on research publicized by the CDC, about 14% of the U.S. population has been exposed to this, but it's mainly spread through contact with the feces, and is generally benign. There's no real to tell yet what percentage of exposures lead to symptoms, but on the same sheet, about 70 people a year go blind from it. Compared to the more than 300,000 exposures in total, that seems pretty minor, though of course still of concern for healthcare professionals.

Say you got one of these diseases though - when you went to get treated for it, could the doctor deduce that you had had sex with a dog?

Swibblestein 1 point on 2016-03-26 01:26:51

Probably not. Essentially all of them can be spread by other methods as well.

Another thing to add:

If you´re "sharing" your animal with another human, the animal can act as a transmitter though it won´t infect itself with human STDs. For example: two guys penetrate a mare. The first has some STD and has unprotected sex with the mare, the second guy can get infected by this STD when he copulates with the mare shortly after guy number one ejaculated in the mare.

People tend to forget this very often, but the possibility of infection is there and it´s real. Just keep this in mind. The best way to have sex with an animal is one-on-one, sharing increases the risk of STDs. Take good care of the animal, visit the vet for vaccinations and dewormings of your animal on a regular basis, then you should not have any major problem.

The knot can cause some major pain and slight tearing if you're not accustomed to it yet.

A recent study uncovered a significant link between penis cancer and zoophilia. Since you can assume those cancers are probably linked to a virus or bacteria, even other forms of intercourse with animals might have the same risks (like the way HPV can give women cervical cancer, but now it's though it can also give you bowel or throat cancer, especially when sexually transmitted, and maybe others types of cancer to be found out).

That article goes on at length about different theories about how SWA causes cancer without addressing the obvious fact that the study is correlative.

Maybe Brazilian men who fuck animals are willing to engage in other risky behaviors.
