Some kinda fluffy post (self.zoophilia)

This past weekend I stayed overnight at a friend's house, and she has a dog who really loves visiting and cuddling with guests. I've never had the chance to, and I finally got to experience sleeping in the same bed with a dog. It wasn't romantic or sexual. It just really took me by surprise how right it felt. This little dog pressed up against my chest, drooling on my pillow in his sleep, sharing the same breath with me. I don't think I've ever felt more relaxed and content in my life. I can't even really put it into words, it was just this feeling of contentment, realizing this is how things are supposed to be, this is what I'm meant to be doing, and it was the best feeling in the world.

We slept on a shitty camping mattress on the hard tile floor of a screened porch with loud rain and frogs outside, and it was the best night of sleep I've ever had.

I know the feeling. I miss it, to be honest. Cherish those moments.

Yes, it is an amazingly safe feeling that nobody else seems to understand ("yuck, you have dogs on your bed??"). They have no idea what they're missing. Last week my dog and my housemate's dog both decided to sleep on my bed on either side against me with me comfortable lying just between them, feeling their body warmth. For that single moment in time, everything was good in the world <3

Nice, this is what it's all about.

Nice!

I've smuggled my lady cat in my bed a few times, but never slept with her (yet!). She likes to slide under the covers and crawl around in the darkness. She likes to be my little spoon too! It's a shame she smothers after a few minutes...

My partner is a cat and she prefers sleeping in her own little cat bed at the end of my bed, not much of a cuddler. Her definition of cuddling is more like "let me lay on you at the most inconvenient time, putting all of my weight on one paw and crushing your kidney. And don't touch me too much or I'll leave." That seems to be how lots of cats do it! Even though she doesn't like to be very close, she does still sleep on my bed and I appreciate that. I haven't slept alone in years.

Is this really such a big thing for you? When I was a teen, our family dog always slept in one of the beds of ours. So, nothing unusual for me...and I´m not into dogs at all...;)

Holy fucking shit you're a disagreeable individual.

Wasn´t meant in an insulting way, it just was so friggin´normal for me that our family dog slept in my bed. He even served as a "get the fuck up, you´re getting late to school" device when he was not sleeping with me. My mother only needed to open my bedrooms door and he jumped right onto my chest (at best) or emphasized the wake up call by lauching right into my nuts...;)

and I´m not into dogs at all

Might be a hint there as to why it's not a big thing for you, then.

I guess it´s more like "Had this so often in my teenage years that I don´t know what´s the big deal"...;)

That's a good explanation too.

Yep, no dogs in the house here, just kitties. I've grown up with cats always around, not dogs. I do love sharing my bed with my cats though, but they aren't as cuddly as my friend's dog was.

but they aren't as cuddly

Some cats will suffocate you with their cuddliness to the point that you can't have that cat in the room and sleep at the same time. (personal experience)

Hope you get some day a doggy to love and share the bed with.

Oh that's definitely true, I just meant my cats in particular aren't that cuddly. When my partner's in the right mood every blue moon though she'll definitely suffocate me!

the best nights of sleep consisted of having a dog next to me
