The pill will make an animal understand and speak English for 24 hours. What do you chat about?
I guess I would chat about what he thinks and feels about humans. Does he think we understand them enough.. How he feels about meat consumption. Does he think interspecies relations are a good thing? Would he consider it with any human. And what are some things he would like to see more happen, communication wise between his species and a human. If this were a dog or a wolf speaking to me I would of course ask him so many more things in detail. As in what he likes best, position wise. Would he consider having another dog friend beside him? Would he want his own "dog" mate on top of having a relationship with a human. Many other topics I could dwell into. I am sure others might have their say in this topic. Hope I can find more of those pills, just so I can talk with all dogs, and hear what all of them have to say. That would be true bliss for me. And many other humans. I wonder how politics, PETA and the rest of the world would feel if an animal could tell us what they have to say.

How anthropocentric....the animal understands the "superior" human means of communication because of the pill. What if I tell you such a "pill" actually exists, but communication isn´t what you humans are used to? The effects of that "pill" are more like tuning in to a form of communication with other species that isn´t defiled by human language conventions and maybe is the primordial, universal language of all living beings. The "pill" has a three letter name. Can you guess it? ;)

It was just a thought experiment.
I don't think animals can communicate anything particularly complex using their mode of communication. They can communicate, but all they can "talk" about are simple and basic aspects of life. Their communication amounts to things such as, "I want to go pee," "Gimme food," "scratch my back," "I want to go out the door," "I want to come in the room/house." Other than this they basically just show various emotions. In short, animals can't communicate anywhere near the level that humans can. Would you like someone who never had any interesting thoughts (at least that you could see), appeared to be mainly just interested in meeting her basic needs and someone who you could see experienced various emotions but you always had to infer about what they were feeling and why? And then this person's genetics is vastly different from your own so how could you really even begin to try to comprehend that person? I've always wanted to understand nonhuman animals but I suppose there may not even be anything to "understand" about them because animals are most likely just these kinds of simpleton races by the outward looks of it. Speaking of anthropocentric, how do the mares that you bought like the existence that you have given to them where they can't ever have any prospect of ever having a boyfriend of their own?
If I can't sample it for scientific analysis and eventual replication (I'd be rich!), I'd most likely use the opportunity to teach a dog various facts and skills more easily. For example, a secret handshake, and how to play a drum in time to the beat.
That wouldn't take long, so the rest of the time would be asking about his feelings on various things, and recording the answers. It'd be pretty neat to have a dog on camera saying, "I love sex with you. I want to do it more. It feels really good." I'd also be interested in what it thinks about other things in its life, like baths and cats.

It would be interesting, to have a conversation like humans. I always wonder whats going on inside their minds, and how alien our thoughts may be compared to theirs. I mean, I would talk and talk, and ask questions.
I mean even though their body language tells a lot, I would like to know. And even our English language is short of communicating. I would love to have the ability to be in their brain and understand
I would walk up to a dolphin, probably ask how it's millennium is going, and ask if I could swim. I would hope to have some fun If the drift has been caught

I would ask them how they feel about the world, how they feel about clothing and such, what they think about politics, if they could vote would they, do they approve of us eating certain animals, do they like leashes and saddles. I'd ask if they have names besides what we give them, if they have a language or culture of their own and do they refer to their mates as mates or do they call them husband or wife? I'd ask their opinions on sex as well, such as do they have sexual fantasies and what they are, if they enjoy certain acts, do they prefer a submissive role or dominant role, are they sexually attracted to humans, if they like oral sex or anal sex or just plain vaginal sex and the like.
Scents and colors.
Preferably I would try to find an animal that is sufficiently intelligent and curious to continue the communication even when it wears off. The pill would be used mostly to kick-start the communication, and establish some means to continue the further communication. Maybe if the pill could be the kind that can be split, making the dose smaller, and resulting in two 12-hour periods, or six 4-hour periods etc., that would be very good too. And then we would shake the world.
