Knotty.me appears to be online again, but there is no official announcement from staff and the site remains largely empty after 2 days with no staff presence.
I'd urge caution. For all we know, anyone could've picked up the bill.
I was under the impression that though the hosting was having issues, they still own the domain name.
I only know there was SOME money to pay for it, I have no idea what condition the payments were up to.
Once we hear back from feh or someone else, I think I'll rejoin. I miss everyone, and want to see what's changed in the year since I've been gone.
Funny enough, I read the sidebar at this same subreddit and was about to join. I didn't know there was any problem to begin with.
Our mod's here are fairly absent as well, to be frank.
But at least the service administrators are still known to be reachable.
Many communication channels survive afther their moderators vanish, because the service administrators are still active. Some opless IRC channels still work well, and many Usenet hierarchies that were forgotten by their management groups still see a lot of traffic.
The problem with Knotty is that the service is up but nobody seems able to reach the service administrator... And since I guess nobody has a good way of identifying him if he shows up (OpenPGP or similar system), there might be concerns that anybody showing up and declaring to be feh might be a fraud.
I should open a store of tin foil hats.
You are correct, of course. Feh's absence is disturbing and even though he is actually reachable through another channel (I have his email) his silence is certainly not something I like to see.

Feh seems to have confirmed Sillycollie is still in control, so nothing to fear aparently. Just... weird I guess? It should be down.

I try my best to float around, heh. I have been a lot more active as of recent, and I plan to stay as active. I have been busy moving and enjoying life with my second pup lol. Life can get a little crazy for everyone sometimes :)

I don't like his answers... Nothing against him, but it sounds like someone else DID pickup the bill to me. What level of control that grants them, I have no idea. I'd hope nothing... but be careful, as always.

Thankfully, if you are using correct operational security procedures, the fact that the forum had been taken over by an evil party should not be too dangerous for the users.
This is why the administrators of sensitive services should have offband identity verification mechanisms, such as OpenPGP keys and such. It is a shame people does not take this into consideration.
I'm more concerned about the handful of knotty users who fully openly admitted to using their direct isp connection.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: feh has announced that Collie has confirmed that the hosting for the site is unpaid and that the forum is not even supposed to be up at all.
He suggests using the forum while it lasts.
This means that the site won't last for long. People who wants a fully operational forum is going to need an alternative.
Jesus, what a mess. That's a shame, I always thought knotty was the most reasonable zoo board.
I am new to this. Do you know of any other board that is remotely reasonable? This sub looks ok so far.

Meh, Feh didn't have any plans. I guess they were just being lenient. RIP knotty. I hope you'll come back but I'm not really holding my breath.
If I had a stable server I could dedicate to the subject, I would set a forum on the i2p network right now. There is forum software that is easy enough to port to i2p and I suspect the traffic it would get is not much. I would not host a clearnet forum under death threats.
It is bad that the forum is down, it looked very reasonable as far as sexuallity related boards go.
