I'm a mod at r/dreams and rarely do I see bigots, but I understand the fear of attracting unwanted attention.
This part of your dream sticks out to me:
Then a crazy haired woman I don't recognize opens the door and says, in my mother's voice "No one wants you or your boyfriend you fucking freaks, no one will ever love either of you." then the crazy haired woman pulls out a hatchet and makes a swing at Sunshine's neck.
To me, that looks like a dramatization of the situation with your mom. The lady is a characterization of your mom and her behavior expresses how you feel about her sending your cat away, is my guess. Your cat was your buddie and for her to just get rid of it is callous.

Well considering that Sunshine was my girlfriend unintentional, yes. If you are referring to dating humans, which I don't care to do, she always asks why I'm not dating anyone and I always use asexuality to avoid the topic which I can tell doesn't fulfill her curiosity.

I've got two thoughts for you. One, perhaps your attraction toward cats is a sublimated energy. It's being directed toward felines because it can't find a healthier outlet (toward females). Two, your mom is not going to accept this, you're right, but she doesn't need to. You have a community here and know you're not alone. Don't expect other people to understand. Let your mom have her illusions about you. You'll understand if you're a parent one of these days.
