What is the connection between furries and zoos? (self.zoophilia)
submitted 2016-11-21 06:34:21 by rabbitkiller24

Okay, besides the obvious love of animals, what is the connection here? Are there a lot of furries who are also zoosexuals and/or zoophiles? Are there a lot of furries who are not zoophiles? What does the ratio seem to be? I am personally not a furry, so I'm just wondering what the overlap is, at least within this community.

Maybe like 5% furrys are zoo, probably Less really.

It all really depends on what part of the fandom, the percentage is obviously higher among "feral" furrys.

The larg majority of furs are not zoo and really don't like being associated with them.

From internal surveys, around 15% of flurries self-identify as zoo. I'd imagine that both communities lean liberal and libertarian, particularly in sex, and that both groups have more than their share of males, autism, and introversion.

Yep, but nobody really knows what a zoophile is. Some look at it as a sex thing, others as sexual interest in creatures with an animal form. So there 15℅ is hazy, and then add in a strong confessional bias : omg, a survey that lets me talk about myself!

I feel like a solid 10℅ or so of furries have some zoo tendencies. And the community recognizes that animals are attractive. Zoo seems like a natural connection, though one that had some mixed emotions.

Depends on what you define as "are zoo". Definitely a lot more than 5% with some degree of interest, though.

I remember 10 years ago it seemed nearly everyone I met was either a zoo or was okay with it. Now I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in the group that is even willing to admit that I tolerate it. People are almost militant about outing zoophiles now. Kind of sad, used a pretty chill fandom.

Don't laugh.
The porn...
There is so fucking much furry porn.
If you know what e621 is, you probably understand.
The thing is, these 'anthros' are still animals, partly, atleast.
I guess you can see the connection there.
Not only that, alot of furry porn sites contain feral animals and for that reason it's art of bestiality.
Funny enough, you usually have some furries complaining about the bestiality art and whine just like any other person about bestiality.

hm. curious. what is the art that these comments are for?

nevermind... found it. certain tags i was expecting to be there weren't, so it didn't show up until i changed my search.

I remember back in the late 90s when people used to sell Zeta pins and whatknot at furry conventions. Since then, furries have made an effort to distance themselves from being zoo but I'd suspect that the 15% cited of furries being zoo as well is pretty accurate.

One of my closer friends is a furry; I personally only joined the community for some sort of hairline of support, and too look at the art. From what I've seen like only 1/3 of the community is okay with it, and about 1/8 is it.

Those are some pretty specific fractions, what about the remainder? :P

My development through my teen years was approximately:

12 - Faunoiphile

15 - Zoosexual

16 - Fan of erotic werewolf comics

17 - Fan of furry art in general

18 - Online yiff roleplayer

20 - Immersed in the furry subculture

Here's the Urban Dictionary definition of Faunoiphilia :

Faunoiphilia, also called zoophilic voyeurism, is a type of paraphilia. It is sexual arousal from watching animals copulate.

Arousal from faunoiphilia may be intensified if the animals mating are different in size, age, species, or a combination of the three. It may also be intensified if the sexual organs of one or both animals can be seen. Animals of faunoiphilia interest include, but are not limited to horses, dogs, dolphins, and various rodents.

A person involved with faunoiphilia may:

or may not be involved in bestiality,

have little or no interest in human sexuality,

purchase animals from pet stores or breeders for the sole, purpose of watching them mate,

write stories about animals mating,

draw pictures of animals mating,

masturbate while watching or thinking about animals mating,

take photographs of animals mating,

download pictures of animals mating from the internet...

It's the animal attraction.

Just keep in mind that although there are lots of furries who are zoos, there are even more that really hate this fact and will do anything in their power to out the zoophiles and try to "clean up" the furry community. So be really careful about who you share information with, especially if it can lead them back to your real identity. It could ruin your life.

I mostly lurk furry communities for porn. There's a category of physically non-anthropomorphic furry art called feral art. If you're into more exotic species, it's definitively the best (and sometime the only way) to find material.

I'm into big cats, so some of my favourite feral artists are Anchee and Cheepard.

Sometimes I do look for anthro stuff, but honestly the only ones I like are from Blotch (Kenket and BlackTeagan).

Although recently I started posting some stuff of my own and trying to interact more with the community (I'm not going to link my account, if you're looking for it you can find it from my username)

So if you're looking for connection, I'd say that a shared interest in animals (sexual or not) would be it.

ZooMasil 1 point on 2016-11-28 08:15:42

I am personally not a furry and do not like the art or fandom at all, this may sound very odd coming from me but I find furries weird. That being said I can see how one could make the step from sexually fantasizing about sex with animal like creatures to full on animals, especially considering real animals are better.

Aldhran 1 point on 2016-12-03 00:26:11

I am a furry and not a zoo (at least I think so). I like animals, love them even, and hate whoever rapes them. If they were able to give consent, however, I do not know if I would gravitate towards that, probably yes. I think even if we are not zoos we are not so far from it. We like the idea of animals being able to experience things with us on equal grounds I guess. Kind of like being into rape porn but hating rapists you know?

TIL people in animal suits qualify as animals.
