Chat room? (self.zoophilia)

Is there a chat room or something that I can just chat with like minded zoo's?

Not that I know of directly, except for zoophilesforum.com which has some kind of java chat.

But don't piss off the mods there. The majority of them are hypocritical, petty assholes (some aren't, but they are rapidly separating from the ship last I heard).

It'd be easy as shit to open up an IRC server/channel if anyone wants to capitalize on this... but you'd be footing quite a bit of liability and in line with the conspiracy theorists, the chatters would be vulnerable if the communication isn't encrypted. I wouldn't be entirely disinclined to hanging out though.

Just open an invite only channel in irc2p (i2p IRC neetwork). The connection is pseudonymous and encrypted up to the servers by default.

I have heard that IRC chatrooms exists in public servers but that they are very low quality. Public chatrooms of any subject are easily ruined because it is always possible for a number of low quality chatters to come in and turn the channel into garbage - even if they are rule abiding and have no ill will.

They may take issue with the subject matter, is my concern. Hosting controversial stuff attracts more controversy. Then again, they may not care and nobody might notice because IRCs aren't exactly in a spotlight either.

They only take action against very bad stuff in irc2p. And I mean the really very awful bad stuff. Some people complain to the ircops every now and then against very controversial channels, but in the end their policy is that users that don't want to get involved with something controversial should not be visiting an IRC channel about such subject.

The big disadvantage irc2p has is that getting into it is not trivial.

I see. Sorry for the late reply, I've had to split my priorities between 50 different things at once so it's been hard to keep track of all the goings on of reddit between this and my main. IRC2P and I2P in general seem perfect for zoos given the anonymity of the platform, though it would seem that there isn't really enough traction for an IRC to really succeed as much as it would need to if this thread is any indication, which is kind of a shame.

A successful IRC channel needs about 10 users for keep going. I have managed to keep channels with less people, but usually just because of very compelling reasons. For example, channels that are created in order to coordinate a project that has a limited duration or for coordinating an activity that happens regularly.

If there is not enough traction for a live chat, the next option are boards or message lists. We already have a board here. Mailing lists are just email based boards and are popular among software developers. Sadly, email leaves many traces everywhere and it is not suitable for talking sensitive subjects unless the people involved does a lot of extra work. The same happens with Usenet newsgroups. An interesting alternative is bitmessage, for which a channel can be created easily and it is designed for being secure and not leaving tracks everywhere It sadly lacks peer review. And of course they are not realtime chat systems.

The salt is strong on ZF. :P

I'm sorry, what exactly does that mean? My web-lingo may not be up to date here.

CanadaWolf 1 point on 2016-12-14 05:51:04

In this context "salt" = "grump".

Ah. Thanks.

I can't say they haven't really brought it upon themselves, but yeah, I'm grumpy with them.
