This is the state that America is in. Republicans tend to use religion to impose morality on people, but they also like to fuck people over.

However, the Humane Society and other animal advocates did not score a pure victory with the Ohio bill, which also preempts local ordinances stopping pet stores from buying dogs from large-scale puppy breeders often called puppy mills.

Ended up shafting working people and nonhuman animals at the mercy of working people in a bill supposedly designed to protect nonhuman animals from working people. You just can't make this shit up. And that's so fucking backhanded -- anybody that votes against it can be instantly accused of being a [bestiality slur here] , all but securing its passage. Kasich wouldn't dare veto the bill for the very same reason. As averse as I am to low cunning in politics, it's basically the perfect bill for riders and they exploited it masterfully. /sigh/

well played, isn't this how politics generally work? Lets fix something everyone hates, but, lets fuck the majority along the way with it

It works this way.

Tom has a gun, Amy has a big dog, Mary has a philosophy book.

Tom and Amy think that Mary's book is dangerous because it encourages evil ideas. Amy and Mary think that Tom's gun is dangerous because he could go crazy and start killing people. Tom and Mary think Amy's dog is dangerous because he could attack little children.

Tom and Amy vote and take Mary's book. Amy and Mary vote and take Tom's gun. Tom and Mary vote and take Amy's dog.

The end result is that nobody is left with rights. And the only thing that was done is to destroy rights that were deemed too dangerous by majorities.

yes, and most people, are too foolish to understand this. Even when you warn them, they feverishly deny it.

Like in pre WWII how the Jews just let it all happen, until it was too late and themselves they couldn't fix it anymore. People don't realize that its always small steps, along with things they like, or they think, it wont get worse. And when it's too late, they find out they cant fix it.

People are fine with a small change, like animals, slowly take out one thing at a time, no one bats an eye, and those who do get shunned for bringing unrest.

Of course, then there are a load of lunes who yell crap, who make valid points look retarded.

Perfect example is the whole 9/11 deal. People have questions, and tinfoil hatters come along, and now if you still have a question, you're seen as a tinfoil hat. Group pressure at it's finest.

This is... a terrifyingly true point. I mean, I don't think it'd be as severe as nazi germany, but... damn.

G_Shepherd fluffy wuffy 2 points on 2016-12-14 16:34:21

Problem with that is, it's what people are capable of. If you would have asked any german in 1923 if such thing would happen in 20 years they'd look at you like you're mad. Currently, it might not happen, but opinions change.

Look at what some people threaten with, that's not very different. And whilst I agree that its a difference between threatening and acting, i am pretty sure humans are totally fine doing this.

Torture still happens, ISIS throws fuel over people and set them on fire, to name a few examples. We like to think we're different, but remember that those people are a product of circumstances.

Does anyone else feel a bit exploited, because for some reason I do.

Politics 101: Stick the controversial thing in the non-controversial thing. Profit.

Usually this works better with cute-puppy bills no one can oppose, but it works equally well in hate-bills like this one no one can oppose, too.

AmoreBestia Et scientiam! 1 point on 2016-12-14 04:03:15

Though, lots of people probably think this is a cute puppy bill all considered.

Rannoch2002 Deer Zoo 1 point on 2016-12-14 05:05:19

Nah, even they don't find it "pretty"

Cute puppy bills are providing funding for something good, maybe an animal shelter if you want to keep with the theme.

To legislators, bestiality is ugly whether you believe we're good or bad. No one likes to talk about it.
