New Moderator Election(Now through Jan 10 US time) (self.zoophilia)
submitted 2017-01-08 16:37:22 by btwIAMAzoophile Dogs are cute.

Over the past few days I have gotten several members interested in taking on some moderating responsibilities. I have compiled a list of 5 of the best-fitting members in my eyes that could be voted on. Keep in mind, there is a slot for "other" as well. In the poll, we have the following:

Battlecrops

tencendur_

duskwuff

TheShotmeister

Amorebestia

I would recommend if you are not on this list and would like to be considered by the community, to comment below and tell people about yourself and how you would be a good fit. Unfortunately I couldn't fit everyone just because I didn't want to make the choices too difficult to make.

The link is HERE, and I will release results on January 10th after the poll closes at 11AM CST. Good luck.

As always, if you have any questions those may be expressed below also.

No mod job available at CringeAnarchy? ;)

Er… you misspelled my username. Might have people confused why they'd vote for a user that doesn't exist. :)

Also, I'd be concerned that an open poll like that one could easily be "stuffed".

Yeah and it's seems you can vote multiple times. So it can be abused, but let's hope everything will go well :)

He could accept the votes through PM or modmail, perhaps. To prevent almost all poll stuffing there could be individual evaluation of each voter's account, but that would take alot of time depending on the number of people that placed a vote.

As explained above, it throws out the second and subsequent votes.

Modmail isn't a bad idea though.

Sorry about the misspelling. I have updated the poll to reflect your correct name haha. The poll actually doesn't allow stuffing; if you have voted once it gives you the appearance of being able to vote again but it throws out your vote. The only safer method I could have chosen is giving people who want to vote unique keys that allow them to vote but the built-in system works fine for preventing your average poll stuffing.

I'm somewhat tempted to vote for Amorebestia just because having a non-zoo mod would be kinda cool and the user has been rational/helpful in their time here, but... is it just me or are some of these users a bit "young" to trust with a mod position? I mean in their time here. Tencendur_ qualifies as well.

Mind you I have nothing against said users, they've been great. This is just an open question for everyone to consider.

It's a valid point you have about some (me in this example) being relative new here. :)

But I would like to point out that I'm not new to this kind of chat/forum, and I have been "out" in the public on several social sites, so some in here do know I'm not just some "new" guy.

I know, which is why I didn't call you out. I meant the zoo community in particular, not just here. You are known elsewhere.

Ah okay, then I just misunderstood you. :)

Well, there's always room for improvement! Modship is a commitment to growth as an enforcer, observer, and member of the community; a constant refining of their character as well as their perception of what is and is not sanctioned. We mustn't forget IAMA's discretion in this matter, as well. He made these selections with his own experiences as moderator at his back.

It may be, too, that none of the more seasoned members cared to apply for modship. It's a pretty significant change to go from being able to leisurely have casual conversation to taking on an active responsibility. In some ways, a new member will more easily adapt to such responsibility.

[deleted] 1 point on 2017-01-09 23:52:04

I meant from a security standpoint. I certainly see nothing against a young member who was vetted being allowed. I just don't see how that could be possible personally given what little I know of you, but what I know is admittedly quite small and my social contacts are limited. Anyhow, given I trust IAMA, I have given you my vote. Good luck.

I applied lol. I'm guessing the reason I'm not on this list is I basically told him it was a "last resort" application.

Ah. Well, most of the more deleterious actions that a moderator can take are easily reversed by anyone with greater permissions or older moderators. Given that IAMA will likely be keeping a close eye on the elected mod, a troublemaker would rather quickly be expelled from modship and their path of destruction erased with them. All the actions that a sub's moderators take are recorded in a moderation log that can be accessed in the sidebar by anyone with the proper permission, to those ends. The moderation tools are by no means perfect just yet, but they're powerful, even when keeping other moderators in check.

IAMA likely took 'last resort' this as a "I'd probably lack commitment" or "I don't really want it". That's not to say anything about your character as a mod, of course. Given what I've seen of you, I'm sure you'd have been an excellent pick.

[deleted] 1 point on 2017-01-10 00:58:00

I didn't really want it lol.

I also didn't want this place to go without a real set of mods either, like knotty.me did for so long before finally dying (it was really just feh).

Hence how I phrased it. I'm glad others stepped up.

I would have voted for you if you were on the list, just because you seem to posses some common sense that many Internet folks lack.

tencendur_ Neeeigh 1 point on 2017-01-09 14:52:17

I wonder if one can vote for himself. It is not forbidden nor explicitly allowed as far as I know....

btwIAMAzoophile Dogs are cute. 1 point on 2017-01-09 15:11:41

Yeah it's totally allowed lol
