Seems a bit of a weird and personal question.
I saw a post related to this some time ago, so it doesn't stop me from being curious.
So, would you actually have children with your animal partners if you could?

Only if it was a sort of designer hybrid, basically like a dog but smarter and longer lived. I think that's the one thing about nonreproductive sex that is worse than reproductive sex overall: you can't naturally form a child with the one you love.
I would love to have a litter of puppies with my partner! It's been a recurring dream of mine for years. I'd sure as hell rather be pregnant with puppies than a human baby.

When I was 25, realising that I never will have offspring gave me some hard times. The idea to have a foal of my own, my son or daughter, is still present in me, but I made my peace with it. In the last 16 years, I slept with my mare almost daily, in hot summers even twice a day. The amount of condoms I would have to buy to prevent an everlasting stream of foals would make me poor, for sure...;) Also, not exactly the best idea to rush into your local store, buying a months pack of 50 condoms....while you´re living with three mares on your lonely farm and no human woman ever was seen around you. Questions definitely will arise...;)
Honestly, as much as I want to be able to produce a healthy foal (no anthro shit for me, por favor!), I also appreciate the fact that I don´t have to worry about contraception. I´d be the father to at least ten foals by now...and definitely poor as hell. ;)

I was kind of surprised so many people love this idea, but I guess I was just projecting. I'm definitely not an offspring person myself. I find the sight of non-human babies less disgusting than human babies, but that's about it.

There are different degrees of attraction and different kinds of limits. I don't think it's wrong to have "weird" or "ridiculous" ones as long as you can properly acknowledge it. I believe it's right to say that I'm attracted to animals, but I also have limits/preferences that make it unlikely I'll ever act on it in reality. (I suppose being okay with that might mean I'm semi-asexual/aromantic)
I just think it's a little impossible to have an attraction to something and get freaked out by it.
I'd think that you'd spend time trying to like them or study them in a way.
You know, before I realized that I really had an attractions to canids I wasn't the biggest fan of them. Or dogs, rather.
But my attraction told me something else and learned new things about them.

I would care for pups that I would get through breeding obviously but it feels off in some way. It feels quite weird in a way, and i'm not sure how to put it in words.

This actually makes me remember of this article that i read a few years back that was quite interesting!! Well from a genetic standpoint it would be about as irrisponsible as having kids with your cosing but like way worse as it would likely cause fatal genetic disorders to the child.
Personally I never had any inclinations to have children as I devoted my life to taking care of horses. I do not see the reason to reproduce when so many unwanted souls are without good homes in the world. I have gotten a stallion once to breed with my mare, thinking more for extending her should I loose her but then I talked myself out of that. Because even though it would be her offspring, the foal would be in no way her, not to mention the risks of loosing her as I seen a few pregnancies end badly with the loss of the mare. So many horses end up in bad homes or at a slaughter house so I pretty much came to realize why make another when there is one out there who deserves a life long home. And of course if I would have, the foal would have a permanent home because something to me feels wrong about breeding and selling something that is family or that I see as equals. I would never make a good cattle farmer because once I feed it and give it a name, it becomes family. One reason I moved myself away from the horse world to make a living which a good part of it involves buying and selling of horses or reproducing more. How can you put a price on something you confess to love as a family member or even more so a mate? But that is another rant all together! Funny thing though. At one time before the net I was not fully sure I could not get a mare pregnant so I used protection because I feared having to explain what might have came out . . . . obviously such a topic was not really taught in school.
