Welcome to the subreddit! On the note of the sheps, probably because they're babes lol. Anyways, hope you find what you're looking for. This isn't a bad place to seek information.

They really are haha. There's only one who've I've been attracted to, but he's such a gorgeous, intelligent, protective, lovable friend... It's crazy how much I love him. :) Thanks for the welcome! This sub seems like a great place to me from what I've read, free of spam/porn/nasty people/etc.

Welcome.
You know, I've never seen a lesbian zoo before.
I don't know how long phases last, but you usually have them when you're like 12-18ish, so I don't think it's some kind of phase you're going trough.
In my opinion, zoophilia can't be really a fetish.
A fetish is more being sexually attracted to objects, body parts, etc.
And animals aren't exactly objects.
Unless you're really talking about kinks.
Do you have similar feelings to female animals like you do with female humans?
Would you like a romantic relationship with female animals?
If you answer yes to any of these questions I'd say it's safe to say that it's not a kink or fetish at all.

Unless you're really talking about kinks.

That's more what I meant rather than "fetish" when I think about it. As in, I'm wondering if this is just something temporary/transitory/additional, not my "real" orientation (real for me, I know it's real for some people). But you make a good point about the phases thing.

Do you have similar feelings to female animals like you do with female humans?

I do on some levels. Whereas with female humans, I'm very easily smitten, get infatuated easily, etc., with the female animals I've experienced this with, similar feelings have arose only with time. To make an easy example, I might see a beautiful woman on the bus smile at me and blush a bit, but with a beautiful husky, I don't feel that way unless I've gotten to know her for a while and she shows (platonic? not sexual) interest in me. Then, I start feeling romantically drawn, with some sexual feelings later (that I've never acted on--the individual animals I've been attracted to have NOT been mine, so I wouldn't do anything).

So I would say TL;DR yes, just not the same in terms of quantity and initial intensity.

Would you like a romantic relationship with female animals?

Honestly? Yes. It sounds crazy hearing myself saying this, but I would just be as happy with a long-term relationship with a female husky/malamute (while I'm attracted to mares sometimes, I'm in NO financial position to take care of one), or, maybe... There's a certain male German Shepherd I wouldn't mind either, if he were mine. <--Which is a bit confusing, but it's how I feel.

I appreciate the questions and thought they provoked, as well as the welcome! :)

hey a fellow lesbian zoo! Nice to meet'cha.

I wouldn't say liking male dogs is really "confusing" per se. Animals don't have a societal concept of gender so I do not believe your orientation applies in the case of your zoosexuality.

I am a lesbian, I only date human women, but I have a strong preference for male dogs since consent is (for me) much less of a gray area and I feel more comfortable with that exchange on a personal level. I don't really see a male dog as a 'little man' or anything because gender is simply not a factor in how I am attracted to dogs.

There are quite a number of people whose human and animal "orientations" are different. It is very interesting to me, because it suggests that orientation is not simply a matter of what genitals one has (as seems to be the common belief) but instead is - at least for some people - a more complex phenomenon.

Really? Well, that makes me feel less weird. :P

I would say that the existence of non-op/pre-op trans people in relationships with partners who normally aren't attracted to their "original plumbing" is another thing that suggests orientation isn't always about genitals. I know a gay guy in a serious relationship with a transman who hasn't had phallo surgery. Doesn't seem to matter to them.

Oh wow, hey! Nice to meet you! :)

Hm, this is a good point. I mean, there's not much difference between a female GSD and a male GSD other than the genitals and relative size/temperament, whereas with humans, there's so much more human women have to offer, physically and otherwise, that attracts me rather than men.

I don't really see a male dog as a 'little man' or anything because gender is simply not a factor in how I am attracted to dogs.

That makes sense. For me, there's one specific GSD I'm attracted to, and he's male, which led to even more confusion for me on this. Prior to meeting him, my animal attractions were limited to a few mares and female huskies I knew (with liking towards malamutes/wolves/wolfdogs in general). But meeting him has thrown me for a bit haha.

So glad you've decided to reach out and take this step towards self discovery ^.^

This sub has been a wonderful resource to learn, connect, and further define my personal journey as a zoo. I have friends that are aware of my sexual and romantic orientation, friends that are sexually attracted to non-human animals, but this is a great community to discuss relationships and logistics of this aspect of who I am.

Welcome, salutations, best wishes, and hope we can aid in your growth ❤️🐾🐶
