Are there any Trans people or people of color here? Or even cis females? Bonus points if you are also disabled, anarchist, atheist and/or poor AF. (self.zoophilia)

I feel like every zoo community I go to is overrun with cis white dudes who I can't really relate to outside the zoo experience. Which most of will roll their eyes at this post due to their ignorance of oppression outside the zoo experience...not saying all of you are ignorant about other issues, but most seem to be IMO.

I really need a zoo friend who I can relate to. Someone to chat with about political and everyday shit that doesn't necessarily involve zoo stuff. Send me a PM if you are interested in being pen pals at least.

Well first off we are all people of color. Just as the rest of the animals on this planet such as horses can have many variations in coat color we are all animals noon the less living together on this planet we call earth.

Second. Though this is a Zoophiles sub and the topics tend to be mainly focused on such it does touch many other topics such as religious and political views to animal abuse and laws regarding such just to name a few I have seen. I would think if you hung about and shared your thoughts on the many various threads you surely would find someone who perhaps shares the same thoughts or close enough to find pleasant conversations with.

I would think that even though we all come from various walks of life we all have much in common as we see all animals as equals and are beyond the short comings of the current human race itself. But this could very well just be my own personal opinions and hope.

Trust me, that's not why I'm rolling my eyes. I think you probably could have found a way to write this post without casually dismissing the feelings/beliefs of many of the community members here if you had tried.

UntamedAnomaly 5 points on 2017-03-29 06:38:59

How would you have written it? I never confessed to having the best of social graces...

On that note, if someone is comfortable in their privilege and oppression, then I honestly couldn't care if I sounded dismissive or not. I mean, if almost everyone around you was getting treated waaaay better than you were, simply because of who you are as a person - except the people who share your qualities, experiences, and traits. And on top of it all the people who were getting treated better obviously didn't give a shit that you were being treated unfairly, and some even gloat about how much better they have it..would you be inclined to coddle their feelings when they get called out on it? Excuse me for not walking on eggshells around people who clearly don't give a shit how I'm treated.

Noted.

And without the casual assumption that there are no trans / female / POC / etc people here, while we're at it.

IAmAZoophile 4 points on 2017-03-29 07:51:55

I think it's usually pretty fair to say that most niche sexuality-adjacent communities online are mostly white guys. That seems to be the case for furries, at least.

This is zoophilia we're talking about.
We're quite the white stereotype, you know.

Yearningmice Zoophile 2 points on 2017-03-29 13:58:47

And with a lot of erasure of POC, trans, and females in the community even by, and especially by, those who are any of the above.

UntamedAnomaly 1 point on 2017-03-29 17:40:20

This. It's going on in this thread even. I mean, I wouldn't have written it, if there wasn't an issue with this particular thing.

ZooMasil 9 points on 2017-03-29 06:15:32

Are we on tumblr? I wonder if zoophilia is a privilege or an unprivilege, do I need to check it?

CognitivelyDissed a sapient animal 1 point on 2017-04-05 15:47:33

Privilege, in social justice terms, is just an unearned advantage. So if you inherited wealth, you're privileged in this regard. If the group you were born into faces less discrimination than others, that makes you privileged in that regard. With this simple definition, you can figure out yourself how much you're privileged...

...wait, was this supposed to be a humorous comment? Okay, sorry. DID YOU JUST ASSUME MY HELICOPTER?!

Battlecrops cat kisser extraordinaire 1 point on 2017-03-29 08:46:45

There are definitely trans zoos, don't know if they're around here but I've met quite a few. But most I've talked to are also stealth, so they wouldn't be likely to respond to a post like this anyway. I know there are some women around on this sub.

It also depends on where you are. The general reddit demographic is likely going to be skewed male, because that's how reddit is so far in general, while on tumblr I met many more female zoos because there are more women on tumblr than Reddit.

UntamedAnomaly 1 point on 2017-03-29 17:36:22

Unfortunately, tumblr's zoo community is very very small compared to here and other communities, I've only found maybe 3 zoos who haven't got their blog deleted, one of them was you lol.

Battlecrops cat kisser extraordinaire 2 points on 2017-03-29 21:33:10

Yeah, it was a lot bigger when I first started but the "callout culture" that is so popular on tumblr these days has made it a very unfriendly place for zoos, so most people either got deleted or voluntarily quit/stopped posting about it on their blogs. I usually stick to my main non-zoo blog but I pop in on my zoo account from time to time to check in on things.

OnzaZ 1 point on 2017-07-21 22:30:45

I'm trans. -.- Also used to be dirt poor, and I mean real 3rd world level poverty. Which also makes me non-white.

Damn I won the lottery.

G_Shepherd fluffy wuffy 3 points on 2017-03-29 09:06:13

I'm terribly sorry but I still fail to see the point in all this? I mean, why is it always about color, it makes absolutely no sense? It's just melanin levels.

60 years ago black people used to be bad because they're black and now it is changing to white people are bad because they're white?

Yet everyone yelling that [insert color] does [insert accusation] fails to see that oppression comes from the ultra rich who don't really care about laying off a 30K workforce so they could still make a bunch of millions more. Or the banks who are systematically stealing your money.

And the funny thing is, they play each and everyone of us up against each other. Just look at Trump, his followers still believe he is going to fix wall street and get jobs back, except that he is supporting a lot of them by giving them government positions. And most jobs have become automated anyway. (It's time to tax a robot per hour of production (they take away work force) and use that to pay unemployed people who lost their job to automation. I bet you that's going to create drama from the big companies.)

Do you know how easy it is to set up people against one another? And yes, there is indeed a difference between treating one person versus the other. And quite frankly, the past dozen years of media didn't help. Why does the news need to mention skin color? It adds nothing to the message except to create a divide. And then there are the people who believe that stuff they hear and see in the media. "black person" "white man"

And now people are at a point that they're creating a divide voluntarily. People get judged by the way they look; oh its a white male.... lets not talk to him, because he is bad Gee its a black bulky dude.... lets not talk to him, because he is bad It is both stupid. The whole color issue isn't a color issue, its a cultural difference that gets portrayed by the media as being a color issue.

If you really want to change things, don't exclude, show them that they're wrong by including. And yes, it's tough, I have to deal with retards myself who believe everything that square box tells them. And with the violence that is now popping up, I can assure you it makes it a whole lot tougher.

"If you really want to change things, don´t exclude, show them that they´re wrong by including" Excellent advice. Now if we´d only listen to our own advice when we deal with society and normals, we´d be several steps ahead for sure.

"And yes, it´s tough" Another splendit bit that got thrown in here...now, if we´d only stop the "Ohh, it´s so hard to be a zoo" whining and listen to our own advice, accepting that we incidentally are struck or blessed with a curse/a gift and also accepting that , due to this orientation, we can´t have a "normal" life for good, it´d be sooo friggin´ easy to move things, at least a bit.

And since the o-word came up once again, always remember "The oppressed of yesterday will eventually become the oppressors of tomorrow"...

I am, myself, almost purely European. But by coincidence, the zoos I talk to the most online are of other races. They're not on here very much, but you might find them on Telegram. PM me and I'll give you their handles.

Cis, able-bodied white dudes have all the privilege in the world.

No, I'm not trolling.

CognitivelyDissed a sapient animal 2 points on 2017-04-05 15:41:40

Well, yeah, cis able-bodied white men don't always have literally all the privilege. They don't have the class privilege, the straight privilege and the neurotypical privilege, and those are just the ones I can think of right now. But if you don't take "all" literally, it's a pretty obvious statement.

This is all that is wrong with mainstream identity politics. The population is classified in identity groups and then every member of the White Male group is told that he is a badass oppressor, he is ignorant of the issues of other people, cannot relate, cannot be related to, or that his opinion is to be automatically dismissed.

The backslash against this sort of thing is having Trumps in office, which is not exactly a super-outcome in my opinion.

I'm pretty privileged but I'm sure I can relate more than your average cis white dude. Aside from the first few words of this comment which are a rare enough utterance, I frequent ShitRedditSays so that's saying something.
