Ferrets are such wily little creatures. Housecats are also up there, one of my first pets was a cat \^-\^

silverwolf-tippysmat 2 points on 2017-06-21 13:11:59

Spiders interest me. But I seriously get interested by most. I guess my favorite would be bears. I think they are highly intelligent and adaptable animals, and am fascinated with their life-cycle and natural history.

I like dogs. They are so funny and loyal, and they always want to play with you. I wish my two-legged friends were like that too.

NamenRamen7 2 points on 2017-06-21 14:21:31

aw dang. I'll have to think of something that's not a housepet.

Battlecrops cat kisser extraordinaire 2 points on 2017-06-21 14:46:30

Hey this isn't fair, I'm attracted to almost everybody!!

I like rodents a lot, and betta fish. I've had bettas for years since I was like six years old and I love them. They have so much personality and really interact with you. And of course rodents, I've always had some kind of pet rodent since I was a kid (I had gerbils first) and now I breed and show rodents.

Frankly, I'm fascinated with the more intelligent birds. Parrots and their relatives get a good reputation because of their ability to say certain words and phrases (whether they actually converse is a matter for debate). But ravens and crows, in their ability to solve problems through cleverness, are also pretty cool.

Battlecrops cat kisser extraordinaire 3 points on 2017-06-21 15:40:37

Weren't crows observed using tools to solve problems too? The only animals besides apes that we've seen do that.

zootrashcan doggy doodle dandy 3 points on 2017-06-21 22:14:15

New Caledonian crows have been observed making tools out of leaves and wood. In an experiment one was accidentally given a piece of straight wire that couldn't be used to get the food but she bent the end into a hook. They're very clever birds.

Tool use is being found in more and more animals, actually. There's even fish that have been found using rocks as tools. Making tools (like shaping a rock/stick instead of just using it as-is) is still not very commonly observed.

the_egoldstein 2 points on 2017-06-22 02:48:18

In addition to the ones mentioned by zootrashcan, tools use has been documented in dolphins, elephants, and alligators, among others. It is not nearly as uniquly human as once thought.

I have to agree with this, I owned a few birds when I was younger, and they have an interesting way of solving problems sometimes.

Glad to see some shark appreciation! They're so cute.

Sometimes the zoo subs seem dead for a moment and then it comes back again, but I like more personal questions like these because they're more innocent and won't really spark up heated arguments. If you want more content you should probably post more yourself as it'll make the other users active too.
This sounds pretty weird, but I don't have a favorite animal that I'm not even a little slightly attracted to. My favorite parts about animals is how they look and their behavior mainly, which are the things that make them attractive in the first place.
Unless you count ''favorite animal'' as any animal I like then it's a big list, destroying the concept of ''favorite'' a little.

silverwolf-tippysmat 2 points on 2017-06-21 23:15:43

I appreciate all content, and try to post what I know when I can. But you're right, these type of questions warm me and I enjoy them too.

I think monitor lizards are pretty neat in the sense that they challenge a great deal of our preconceptions about intelligence. Another thing I've always had an interest in is the concept of uplifting and neural enhancement and their intelligence existing seemingly independent of a number of structures and qualities only observed in mammals makes me hopeful for general cognitive enhancers in the future.

I think tigers are pretty fucking cool animals. They're unique in their behavior for a big cat.

wright-one ursidae canidae pantherinae 1 point on 2017-06-22 02:25:34

i'm curious.. what is unique about tigers?

ItsABurnerDuh 1 point on 2017-06-22 03:33:26

They are loners, but if they come across other tigers in the wild, they will share kills.

Sometimes they imitate preys sounds to bait them in for a kill.

Male tigers allow females and cubs to eat before they do (other large cats don't)...

They actually enjoy the water. They're one of the only cats who do.

They have like 15-20 foot vertical hops...

Just a few off the top of my head.

zootrashcan doggy doodle dandy 3 points on 2017-06-21 22:18:17

Hm... it's hard to say because there aren't many animals I have a preference towards that I'm not attracted to on some level. Weasels maybe?

thelongestusernameee banned from the aquarium touch tank 1 point on 2017-06-22 08:52:33

weasels are pretty nice.

wright-one ursidae canidae pantherinae 1 point on 2017-06-22 02:27:32

definitely with /u/battlecrops and /u/zootrashcan .. hard to pick animals i'm interested in that i'm not at least a little sexually curious about/attracted to .. at least as far as mammals are concerned.

i'm with /u/kynophile otherwise, though. i've always found ravens' and crows' intelligence to be interesting.

Favorite bugs: Pill-bug and praying mantis. Birds: Hmmm none... I guess I like bugs more than other species. Reptiles:..... hmmm same as above. Fish: I like guppies and other small but colorful tropical fishes.

SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-06-27 19:14:36

Would you fuck them if they offered you a ''harem'' of bitches too?

Aluzky 1 point on 2017-06-27 19:43:25

Huh? Fuck who?

SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-06-27 19:44:42

These animals. Just a harmless question.

Aluzky 1 point on 2017-06-27 20:19:49

Fuck bugs? What? Can't you make your question more clear? Do you write like that on purpose or you just have "kindergarten grammar" by default?

SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-06-27 20:34:26

No, you'd have sex with humans if in return they'd give you female dogs.
Would you do it with these animals if they gave you dogs to fuck? Just a harmless question, no need to get mad. Remember, I'm a huge supporter of yours.

Aluzky 1 point on 2017-06-29 00:48:51

No, you'd have sex with humans if in return they'd give you female dogs.

What of that has to do with bugs? Can bugs give me bitch access? Seriously, you make no sense. If you have nothing on topic to reply to my comment then don't reply.

Would you do it with these animals if they gave you dogs to fuck? Just a harmless question, no need to get mad. Remember, I'm a huge supporter of yours.

Again, that question is not on topic and is also an irrelevant and HYPOTHETICAL question that has no value in real life because bugs won't have bitches.

SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-06-29 00:50:45

Oh, thanks for explaining.
Mmmm, but what if they did, though? Damn, you'd fuck those bugs in an instant!
