Blue Cross - Pet Bereavement Support (self.zoophilia)

This topic is not strictly adhered to zoophilia. However, I think it might be interesting for some people.

I recently listened to a Horse Hour episode in which they talked about Blue Cross. Blue Cross is a non-profit organization devoted to providing welfare to pets.

They operate a support phone line for people who has lost a pet and is having trouble coping with it. I suppose everybody here knows the drill: you lose your animal, and then people fail to understand how you feel, and tell you that "it was just a dog" or some variation of that. The aim of this support service is to allow people to talk to a person who knows that your pet was not just a dog, so to speak, and who has been through the same suffering.

Snail mail and email are also answered to. I must confess I felt deeply touched when I learned of the existence of this support service.

Wouldn't sidebar it but we could make a useful links page.

There's such a thing as stickying.

Only works on posts made by mods, and it'll get obnoxious if we pinned an announcement with links. We want announcement posts to be reserved for important time sensitive things like polling and such.

I think the main point is that people who loves animals, and who has suffered the loss of an animal, is not going to think that you are stupid because you feel guilty, angry or sad about your loss. When I was listening to the interview, they talked about the sort of issues the users and volunteers of the support line had, and I actually thought "Yeah, I have been there too". So I am pretty confident that the volunteers at the other side of the line can at least empathize.
