Where is PETA/SPCA???? (self.zoophilia)

There are hundreds of people standing outside of shelters in Houston Texas where flooding from Hurricane Harvey has set records. They aren't allowing pets in and these people won't abandon their companions. Thousands more have refused rescue because their pets weren't allowed along. Where are these people who advertise nationally for money to rescue pets?

PETA gives absolutely no shits about animals. They run high-kill shelters, steal peoples animals and kill them, and then say that they care about animal rights.

Absolutely awful association, really. That's a horrible situation though, those poor pets.

The situation has improved. Because none of the public or private animal welfare organizations have shown up, the County Judge has ordered the shelters to let animals in.

If they were denying pets due to room/capacity reasons, it may not be a lot better, but it's at least a start.

They were denying pets when they opened the shelter saying that they didn't want fights and that someone would be along shortly to take them. Six hours later the County Judge said "enough!" and let the pets in because no one showed up for them.

BTW, this is the same County Judge that threw FEMA out of the Katrina relief effort because they mismanaged everything.

I'm not aware of the details, I was simply commenting on it from a theoretical point of view. Thanks for the additional information.

I just find it remarkable that a random government official cares and the paid spokespersons don't.

The original idea to ban pets came from the Red Cross, another organization with their hand perpetually out and paying big salaries internally.

It is what government officials are actually supposed to do, no?

I know it doesn't happen often, but just sayin'

so now they can "euthanize" them.

PETA stands for People for blablabla.
That means everything. People make only people things. Some shitty actions to make talk on them. Nothing more. They don't give a shit about animals.

The real talent of business is the art of selling dreams, talk is not real but it pays off.

PETA is concerned with the overall systemic oppression of animals, and therefore any individual local cruelty is irrelevant to their aims of radical reform. It's the same reason why Black Lives Matters almost never comments on gang violence: they think the real problem is white supremacy and racist police, and nothing but total change will satisfy them.

caikgoch 3 points on 2017-08-28 11:55:49

Absolutely. But they all advertise (solicit) on the basis of solving individual problems. It's not whether they are right or wrong but the deception inherent in their methods that annoys me. Think "fruit of the poisoned tree."

Trust me, peta will just euthanize 90% of those animals because they think they wont be adopted.

though why arent pets being allowed by the rescuers? surely it wouldnt destroy the entire operation if someone wrapped their cat in a jacket

caikgoch 3 points on 2017-08-28 18:08:23

There was some true ugliness with pets and agencies after Katrina. A few local shelters would tell people that their pets were being taken to another building then shoot them as soon as the owners were out of earshot. That gave us the large "if (s)he can't stay with me, I'm not going" crowd.

Most of the local officials in Houston have been there through Katrina, Rita, and Ike. They know better but "organizations" like the Red Cross send in "specialists" to find ways to screw things up.

PETA consider pet ownership to be akin to slavery. They consider animals better off dead than being owned by a person.
