A number of zoos have varying gender preferences depending on the species. It can really be all over the place, evidently.

I'm this way, I prefer female owls over males, but male mantises over females.

Mantises like the insect?
TastypawsTaken by Toby! 3 points on 2017-09-26 18:30:18
Yeah, I also find moths and spiders attractive.
Lefthandedsock 1 point on 2017-09-29 08:38:27
That's quite unusual.

Is it because female mantises eat their mates? :P

No, it's the enlarged abdomen and I'm not sure why.

Can confirm -- this is very common. In my experience, the most common case is male zoos who have a single gender preference with humans, but are effectively bisexual with animals. I've seen many other permutations, though.

Yep. Im exclusive so I'm asexual with humans. For animals I am heterosexual.

I know this is a bit weird to you, the owner of this comment, but...
Seriously, everyone? This comment received downvotes for what?
I actually know why, but you may all give an alternative excuse for it.
I don't care about internet points, I just care about the intention.
Apparently exclusive zoophiles like /u/30-30 and me ''harass'' inclusive ''zoophiles'' yet this comment is downvoted for what reason? You can't convince me it's not because of the whole exclusive thing.
I just posted a similar comment before I read this one. Am I also going to be downvoted to hell now because we even dare to mention we're exlusives?
Double standards and hypocrisy, that's how I would exactly describe the vast majority of the users here.
EDIT: From low points to high points... Yeah okay, I guess I'll let it ''slide''. Still, doesn't change the fact that this was downvoted for a while.

You seem new here.
I say, try to get used to them. Not TOO used, because you'll end up like them.

It was more because asexuality wasn't really a target for discussion. It was a question of gay/straight/bi rather than a question regarding lack of attraction. The question reads as "If I'm attracted to a human, they're X, and if I'm attracted to animals, they're Y", which implies that attraction to humans is assumed.
Tail-Wagger 2 points on 2017-09-26 23:26:24
Ok, I understand what you mean. My mind went and thought of anything ending in sexuality. I didn't say anything with any bad intent. I just didn't think it through.
feralpal 5 points on 2017-09-26 17:44:26
Oh absolutely. I'm gay with humans, and although I still have a preference for male animals, I would say I'm bisexual with animals. To varying degrees, this does seem to be incredibly common among nonexclusive zoophiles.

I used to think I was straight for humans, more to the bisexual side for animals. It has switched around with me now being pretty straight for animals whilst being bisexual for humans.

dogs don't have any human concept of gender, so I don't think gender preference really plays a factor at all.
SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-09-26 18:54:51
I'm pretty sure enough animals know what male humans and female humans are.
Battlecropscat kisser extraordinaire 1 point on 2017-09-26 22:48:29
Humans can have a preference for physical sex characteristics though for sure. I don't think the animals care about ours but the sex of animals can make a difference on the human end.
SCP_2547 1 point on 2017-09-26 19:18:11
Definitely, I'm asexual for humans and bisexual for the animals I'm attracted to such as canids and equids.

Sure, I'm bi for dogs and a little bit gay for humans. That being said I still only own two male dogs. I'll likely get a female dog in the future but not for a while as it isn't the right time.

I like to be done by dogs and horses mainly. I will switch that up sometimes.
I'm pan with humans.
I'm also trans. Wonder if I'll be able to dilate to horse-size 🤔

Zoo exclusive so no.
Battlecropscat kisser extraordinaire 4 points on 2017-09-26 22:51:16
For me it varies by species, so maybe that counts. I'm bi with humans and most animals. But there are some species where I'm only attracted to one sex or the other. I'm only attracted to female lions and horses/zebras for example, not males.

This kind of happens with furries heh. Like lots of furries who like gay furry porn are straight in real life.

I'm the same way. Attracted to female, or non-binary humans 99% of the time. Attracted to male animals 99% of the time.
