I think, the idea is nice. But I honestly don't think that they could help.

I think to stop zoophilia harrassment, we have to stop caring about it. People just going to love whatever they want to love.

I mean it's like: "HELP! Look at me! I'm a zoophile! I want rights!", you'll get bashed by the anti-zoophiles. Because they simply don't understand. And to be honest, there will be always people who don't like it. There are also people hating the female gender, also as male gender. Something COMPLETELY natural.

They will be there, forever. If we stop yelling out loud what we want, they will stop noticing us. And by that, stop caring that we excist.

I agree. It's like a labor union for Santa's elves. It ain't gonna happen.

But, I like the organization, because they make what they love (somewhat) public. That, you know that there are other people like you out there. I see it as a boost for the self-esteem.

Well, that sounds good!

Exactly this. Zoosexuality is considered by most societies as repugnant, and nothing is going to change that anytime in the near future. Even without most people believing zoophilia is rape and/or against god, it's not something that's going to be praised.

Many zoos like myself, I think, do have an online presence and are more than happy to educate and converse with curious and open-minded non-zoos. But in the end, what we want most is the opportunity to live with our animal partners in peace.

Bad idea. This isn't something to be discussed openly, especially not with any press. Press media should be as far from it as conceivable. Organizing for a cause, demanding equality, is opening a door for scrutiny.

Animal lovers are everywhere, and nobody has a problem with that. If you want to stop abuse, donate to or help causes to stop animal abuse.

Zoophilia, as a typical affection for animals, is a normal part of being a decent human being. However, the type of zoophilia (what I assume we're talking about) that would require organizing and demand equal rights is best kept out of the spotlight.

Y'all might dig it, but I'm out of anything that jeopardizes my freedom. The more we keep out of the media, the better off we are. Laws banning bestiality specifically, outside of the typical sodomy laws, were created in Washington only after an incident with media coverage.

I tend to agree. I don't think it's something that needs much attention as I feel it'll be mostly negative attention. And we all know how emotionally driven people tend to be, as well as how little they tend to understand what laws should and shouldn't be. I wouldn't like any sort of attention that could bring its legality to attention.

I'm also worried about how groups like this would present themselves. I'm not overly trusting on that one; I don't want people who look like a bunch of whackos to everyone else representing me.

These people totally do not represent my bisexuality. But, they exist and I can't do anything about it.

I would think about it as identity management. I have told my parents about my bisexuality, but I haven't told my grandparents. You don't have to tell everyone.

All in all, I believe in freedom. And, anti-sodomy laws (homosexuality, zoosexuality) are clearly anti-freedom.

Yep, that's where I stand.

Also identity management is a good idea and is similar to what I do. I'm very careful about the specific details that everyone in my life knows.

The real story behind this group is pretty crazy, and it's not at all what you'd expect from the web site.

Disclaimer before I start: This is all based on my personal research. I'm not certain about this, I'm just giving my current best guess.

So, as far as I can tell, the starting point was Tijn Po's film Coming Soon, in which he more or less fabricated a story about a group called EFA, part of a "zoophile rights movement". The director admitted in one interview to having made most of the thing up. I haven't seen the film, so I can't judge for myself, but I'd be willing to guess that most of it was BS.

As part of this movie, he created a web site for the organization to lend some credence to the film's claims. (Quick sanity check: Both comingsoon.cz and equalityforall.net currently resolve to the same IP address, 89.185.253.149, so they're almost certainly operated by the same person.) Lo and behold, a few naïve young zoos actually took the fake website as real and tried to join the "movement". Since it doesn't actually exist, this wasn't too successful.

Sounds interesting, I'd like to hear more.

duskwuff 1 point on 2011-10-29 07:53:04

Done.

electricfoxx 2 points on 2011-10-28 22:24:54

I'm not part of the group. I found it while looking up "Coming Soon". Something about rights groups irk me. They sometimes escalate to the point of violence. For example, I'm bisexual and I want other bisexuals to be happy with someone, but I'm not going to join a group to destroy every person who says something negative about bisexuality.

The forum says that E.F.A. has ties to PETA. PETA is one of those that, although, it has nice intentions, I believe it has gone over the edge.

One thing I am against is censorship. If no one said anything about zoophilia in effort to protect it, would that instead hurt the group through censorship? I never knew that it was possible to be bisexual until I heard there were others.

duskwuff 3 points on 2011-10-29 07:54:35

EFA doesn't have ties to PETA, because it's not a real group. See my (edited) comment above — it was a pure fabrication created for the movie.

electricfoxx 1 point on 2011-10-29 14:30:06

Sounds like a rights groups. XD

Thanks for letting me know.

Anyway, with all the stupid stuff rights groups come up with (PETA's XXX website), I won't be joining any soon.

What I have learned from using the Internet is that no matter how crazy or weird you think you are, there are others out there that are like you.

So, why don't I just shout from the roofs, "I love dog sex." Mostly, because I fear violent, stupid people.
